You can hear it everywhere: “Stay Home! Save Lives!” “We must have another lockdown so we can save the vulnerable from COVID-19.”
The problem with isolation is that it creates more problems than solves. When we didn’t know much about COVID-19 it was accepted as a temporary safe solution. Less contacts less spreading of SARS-CoV-2. When we gathered more data about the virus it was found out that it is much less dangerous and has already spread so containing it is impossible. COVID-19 death rate is overestimated since it includes people who test positive but die from alternative causes. Children, young and healthy barely get sick since are exposed to many similar viruses which creates cross-immunity. Old and vulnerable people have less contacts in general and weaker immunity but COVID-19 is nor more dangerous for them than any other infectious disease.
What would happen if we are all isolated for months?
Locking everyone will decrease everyone’s immunity and make everyone susceptible to all pathogens. Immunity gets weaker by not being in contact with other harmless viruses but also by lack of natural vitamin D, fresh air and exercise. Meeting family and friends increases the level of so-called happy hormones which are essential for the good health. Online communication is not enough especially when contacting the sick and old. Read my own story about it here. Human touch has immunostimulating abilities and lockdowns are taking it from the ones who need it more. Promoting it as something good while actually is the opposite is just wrong!
There are more consequences like increasing the death rate of now neglected diseases which kill millions of people like cancer, flu, malaria, tuberculosis. People don’t receive care if not COVID-19. Closing businesses and layoffs because of lockdowns lead to poverty and suicides.
It is clear that lockdowns aren’t a solution for COVID-19 (I offered solutions here and here, but the World Health Organisation rejected all). Why still implemented then?

Update.
My views on COVID-19 have shifted. I, like many others, did not read so-called isolation reports. When I did it, I was certain that there is no such virus as SARS-CoV-2. What I think was discovered may be found in the following article.
